The watch of former Argentina player Post Diego Maradona has been recovered by Assam Police in Assam, India. It is owned by an Assam resident who used to work in Dubai and recently returned to India.
Diego Armando Maradona is an Argentinian footballer and is widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers ever. He passed away from a heart attack in November 2020.
Assam resident Wazid Hussain is said to have stolen a luxury limited edition Hublot watch in Dubai while he was working there. Surprisingly, the watch turned out to be from Late Diego Maradona. The limited edition Hublot watch is worth around 20 lakh.
The previously stolen football watch was tracked down by Assam Police with the help of Dubai Police and Assam Police caught the suspect. Wazid Hussain has been arrested in connection with the stolen watch but the investigation is continuing.
Wazid Hussain used to work as a security guard at a private company in Dubai, where Maradona’s belongings were kept. In August, he returned to India because his father was unwell.

Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was the first to share the story on Twitter saying, “In an act of international cooperation, @assampolice worked with @dubaipoliceHQ through the Indian federal LEA to restore a watch @ Hublot legacy belongs to legendary football player Late Diego Maradona and capture a Wazid Hussain. Track legal action being taken. “
Director General of Police Assam Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta said the watch belonged to the Argentinian player and that the watch was kept in Dubai along with other belongings in a safe.
The official also added, “According to a notice from the central authority of the Dubai Police, a Wazid Hussain stole a limited edition Hublot watch signed by Diego Maradona and fled to Assam. At 4am this morning we captured Wazid Hussain from his residence in Sibsagar. The limited edition watch was recovered from his hands”.
The police official tweeted, “An expensive Hublot watch… Maradona… Dubai… Assam police look like random words, don’t they? But today all these words combine put together in a unique way, telling a story of a successful International Cooperation between Dubai Police and Assam Police.”

Diego Maradona wore 2 Hublot Big Bang watches during the 2010 FIFA World Cup when Maradona was manager of Argentina football team. Hublot has launched the Maradona Big Bang Chronograph Limited Edition.
The watch features a photo of Diego Maradona, with arms raised in victory, engraved on the back of the Hublot Maradona Watch case, along with his signature and shirt number.
The watch is 44.5 mm in diameter and is made of black ceramic, which is micro-touched for texture. A sapphire crystal covers the black dial, embellished with luminescent Argentine blue and white on the numerals. Maradona’s No 10 jersey in the Mexican font engraved on the sub-dials.
The watch features Hublot’s HUB1146 chronograph movement with 55 jewels and a 42-hour power reserve. Only 250 watches and all sold out quickly in 2010 World Football Championship.
