Meet the parents (2000)

robert de niro and ben stiller meet Cropped's parents

Jay Roach’s 2000 Comedy that started it all: it’s a movie that’s nearly impossible not to watch over the holidays. It’s one of those movies that always show on planes during Thanksgiving and Christmas flights. The film follows Greg Focker (Ben Stiller) and his girlfriend Pam (Teri Polo) visiting her parents (Robert De Niro & Blythe Danner) on Long Island for the wedding of her sister Debbie (Nicole DeHuff).

Just about everything that could go wrong for Greg: The engagement ring he was going to propose in front of Pam’s family was lost while traveling, he accidentally caused Debbie to bruise and break his eye. nose while a friendly volleyball match, and Pam’s father completely despises him. Meet the parents is every man’s fear when he meets your loved one’s father for the first time. It’s a bit exaggerated and silly, but it still feels authentic and about how important family is at the end of the day.

Last night (2015)

Another hilarious movie with a bittersweet plot: best friends Ethan (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Chris (Anthony Mackie) and Isaac (Seth Rogen) have spent Christmas Eve together over the past decade. when Ethan’s parents died in a horrible crash on Christmas. Night. Ten years have passed, and the holidays are different now, as Isaac is married and about to become a father for the first time, and Chris is now a famous (and quite famous) soccer player.

It seems like things are changing for Ethan, as his friends are slowly drifting away from him and having their own lives. Agree that this is Last Christmas Eve they will all celebrate together, they try to win tickets to the extremely exclusive “Nutscracker Party”. Last night is the ultimate holiday comedy “brother evening fun”. However, at the heart of it all, the film is really about friendship, family, and the importance of relationships, which Levitt said himself in an interview with Collider: “I like the original because it’s not just three boys hanging out. There is an interesting origin story about their tradition of going out every Christmas Eve. ” Family traditions is what holds family and friends together, and this movie is all about tradition.

Son-in-law (1993)

This 1993 comedy stars Shore as Crawl, a party boy who is dating innocent farm girl Rebecca (Carla Gugino). Back home in South Dakota for thanksgiving holidayRebecca takes Crawl with her and let’s just say he’s not a good fit for the family. Shore’s good acting and unique humor make this movie impossible not to laugh. It’s also a pleasant movie with lots of positive and uplifting messages about accepting people who are “different”.

The characters in the film are all lovable, from Rebecca’s family (Lane Smith, Cindy Pickett, and Mason Adams) to her extremely annoying little brother (Patrick Renna). In addition to the quality cast and fun script, the film also features music by Goo Goo Dolls, the Queen, and Richard Gibbs. It’s been almost three decades, comedy still holds.

The Daytrippers (1997)

An indie film becomes a classic. The 1997 film directed and written by Greg Mottola is the ultimate comedy drama. The day after Thanksgiving, Eliza (Hope Davis) encounters a love letter in her husband Louis’ (Stanley Tucci) drawer, leading her to suspect that he may be cheating on her. Deciding to go to New York and confront him herself, her whole family asks to join her. So, sister Jo (Parker Posey) and boyfriend Carl (Liev Schreiber), along with parents Jim (Pat McNamara) and Rita (Anne Meara) all jump in their old car and set off on a fun ride. hilarious.

The Daytrippers highlighting human and family imperfections as people exhibit traits and nerves a perfect funny display. The Daytrippers there are scenes that are extremely emotional and dramatic, while others are extremely hysterical. At the end of the day, The Daytrippers is the ultimate satirical comedy of the ’90s, the perfect mix of quirky and endearing.
