The View chooses Alyssa Farah Griffin as Meghan McCain’s replacement

The view will appoint former Trump White House communications director Alyssa Farah Griffin as the show’s full-time conservative co-host, multiple sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to The Daily Beast, finally filling the vacancy left by Meghan McCain’s dramatic departure last summer Has.

Farah Griffin will join full-time co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines and Sunny Hostin, and rotating co-host Ana Navarro, beginning in September when the weekday talk show returns for its 26th season.

The Daily Mail Farah Griffin’s selection was reported for the first time on Tuesday afternoon. Farah Griffin did not respond to a request for comment, but an ABC spokesperson emailed: “We do not have to make a co-host announcement at this time. Stay tuned.” The show is likely to announce its cessation next week, sources told The Daily Beast, as The view wraps up its 25th season ahead of a summer hiatus.

Farah Griffin was a mainstay in Donald Trump’s administration, first working as Vice President Mike Pence’s press secretary before taking on a similar role at the Department of Defense and eventually ending up in the Trump White House press office. She resigned a month before the Jan. 6 Capitol riots instigated by her former boss, and thereafter became a fierce critic of the twice-indicted ex-president and his role in spreading outright lies about the 2020 election.

Farah Griffin’s positioning as an anti-Trump ex-Trumper ultimately helped secure her a role as a political commentator for CNN, where she became a frequent on-air presence, particularly during coverage of the House of Representatives committee hearings on January 6th.

But even while she was on the cable news giant, Farah Griffin was a frequent guest co-host for The view last year, when the show auditioned various conservative media personalities for the vacant seat.

McCain departed the daytime talk show last summer after four years of seemingly incessant controversy, including beef on and off air with her co-hosts. Even after leaving the ABC family, the former Fox News pundit has continued to play a role outlook Dramatic, who often battles with her former peers from afar.

Farah Griffin has a much more thoughtful, measured on-air presence than her predecessor, and she’s proven ready to grill her former Trumpworld colleagues on-air, but her involvement with the talk show — and her career rehab overall — has some messed up plumage.

Earlier this month, The Daily Beast’s Confider newsletter reported that comedian Wanda Sykes had quit outlook Appearing on learning the former Trump flack was hired as a guest presenter on the day. “She didn’t want to be involved in helping a Trumper wash her reputation,” a outlook said an insider at the time.

And then, earlier this week, Confider reported that a CNN star demanded that producers not book her for segments alongside Farah Griffin, to similarly avoid lending credibility to an ex-Trumper’s career rehab.
