The survival and cooperative mode update has returned to Ascension

Science Fiction Fantasy Profit will receive an update called Returnal: Ascension, which gets two new modes that expand the depth and extend the life of the game. Fans (including us) have wanted Returnal co-op for the campaign or an iterative survival mode since the game’s release, so they’ll be surprised and pleased to hear that they will get both for free later this month on March 23rd.
How Returnal’s Co-op and Tower-Based Survival Mode Work
In the spin-off of the trailer for Returnal revealed during the Playstation’s latest State of Play showcase, the co-op mode for Returnal: Ascension will let “you share your entire journey through the maze. switch Atropos with another player.” A special note has been added to clarify that this co-op feature only counts for the campaign and not Tower of Sisyphus, house chains or Challenge Mode.
Meanwhile, a new tower-based survival mode – Tower of Sisyphus – will be available to players who have unlocked the Icarian Grapnel. As the name suggests, the regime will have “an ascending measure of increasingly dangerous stages, with each stage having twenty tiers.” Each floor will require you to defeat every enemy in it before you can advance to the next floor.
Harry Krueger, game director of Housemarque, shares more details in a post on the official PlayStation blog. The co-op campaign will be accessible through the Chronosis portal throughout the game, plus your partner will match a Selene from the other timeline. Either player will be able to respawn the other, and the guest player will still receive the log and xenoglyph, as well as increase their Scout Rating when they enter the co-op.
Tower of Sisyphus, on the other hand, is an endless mode that gets harder and harder with each level passed. Accompanied by new narrative content, this “arcade action experience” will track your score on leaderboards for bragging rights.
In other news, the WWE franchise license that could move from EA to 2K and Forspoken exclusively on the PS5 console has been delayed to October of this year.
