Driver fans can expect to save six percent on their tickets before the province’s new sales tax (PST) hike goes into effect this fall.

Saskatchewan Roughriders President and CEO Craig Reynolds said the discounted tickets come at an important time as families face rising costs for many essential items.

“Obviously this is a challenging time economically right now with inflation and the cost of gas,” Reynolds said. “We want to make sure we offer people an affordable way to get through our gates, feel comfortable in the stadium and experience the excitement that comes from our football games.”

The organization is also reducing ticket prices for 2,700 seats and adding additional sections for the family ticket packages.

“We’re actually expanding the part of the stadium where you can get family awards,” Reynolds said.

And as for the 2,700 concessionary seats, he said: “There is a strong demand for ticket prices on the lower floors. We just didn’t have enough inventory to meet that demand. So we’ve basically just added inventory at the lower prices to meet the demand that we’re seeing.”

For existing season ticket holders, the tickets can be extended at any time. For first-time buyers, tickets will go on sale on August 16 to take advantage of the reduced cost before the PST increase takes place.
