The Radicalization of the Supreme Court

Six conservative justices on the Supreme Court have signaled that they are likely to uphold a largely forbidding Mississippi law. abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy. The question now is how far will they go.

“The court is on the verge of a mess – theoretically, practically and politically – and it’s hard to know how it will exploit itself.” Ruth Marcus wrote in an Opinion Essay for The Post. “Overruling Roe would get the courts largely out of the business of deciding on abortion, but it would create a political firestorm, right before the midterm elections. “

Marcus is an attorney trained at Yale and Harvard. She is also the deputy editor-in-chief of The Post. She provides insight into the historical challenge to Roe v. Wade and explain how a conservative “rule of six” is poised to reshape the nation.
