The pandemic’s omicron wave is a new test, but America is already facing fatigue

Omicron. Variant is new, but coronavirus is not new anymore. It continues. More than 819,000 Americans have died, but due to vaccines – and attitudes of partial surrender – we now have half of the luxury measures. Some schools are closed, but not all. Some Broadway shows are closing, but not all. Many flights were canceled but not all. New Hampshire has it worse than Kentucky, but wait. We are surfing in January on delta and omicron waves, towards the terminus of the Greek alphabet and the beginning of the third year of the pandemic. We’re diving into the Wikipedia entry for Lexapro as we line up for hours, in the cold, for swabs.
