The Outer Worlds 2 has been in development since 2019
Outer Worlds 2 is said to have been in development since September 2019 and will go into production a month before the original release.
According to a post on Twitter, Executive Producer of Obsidian Entertainment’s LinkedIn page Dan Maas holds a clue as to when The Outer World 2 went into production. Review notice Trailer for Obsidian sequel arrives in E3 2021, it seems a bit early to hear about a sequel, so don’t expect a sequel anytime soon.
Twitter user FaizShaikh7681 logged into Maas’ LinkedIn page and discovered that The Outer World 2 has been in production since September 2019, a month before the original game’s release on October 25, 2019. This will make sense given the timing of the game. The Outer World 2The announcement of E3 2021, puts it about two years into production with only a CG trailer for its name.
This is surprising because in addition to all the games in development currently, the developer has come up with two DLC stories for The outside world after debut. The Twitter post then claims that the title will then be released on the ballpark in late 2023 or early 2024. That seems like a long way off and would put the game’s total development at approx. four to four and a half years.
Four years seems like a long time considering the original estimate took at most three years to make. However, the first thing The outside world is said to have been cut short due to time constraints (hence the completion rate of 25 hours), as games tend to be shorter for an RPG, especially one similar to Bethesda’s own Fall out series. However, it is entirely possible that this time Obsidian is looking to make a longer and meatier RPG and is taking the time to do so. After all, a 4-5 year development cycle is pretty decent given the way it is today when it comes to producing AAA games.
Present, Obsidian is filming many shots because it’s so hard to work The Outer World 2, first-person fantasy RPG Available, an investigative RPG set in 16th century Europe with the tentative title Opinion similar style Disco Elysiumand finally an update on its survival game Base. That’s a lot to handle at once, but Obisidian’s track record is nothing if not high quality, so confidence in the studio is guaranteed. The outside world was a critically acclaimed work at the time of its release, so there’s no doubt that Obsidian spending more time producing the sequel is a good thing in the long run.
