Legend of the dangerous zelda walking alone

NS Legend of Zelda is one of the most popular video game franchises out there, and after 35 years running, it’s also one of the oldest video game franchises out there. This classic Nintendo series first debuted in 1986 in Japan on the Famicom Disc System and continues to grow to this day. Although many fans are waiting for the latest title to be released, one fan decided to dig into the history of the franchise and share a hilarious description for the original. Legend of Zelda in an old Sears catalog.

Until 1993, Sears sent its catalogs to potential customers, advertising its products and their prices. It may not be a surprise to veteran video game fans to learn that the first English release of original The Legend of Zelda position seems to have been listed.

Reddit user MrCantPlayGuitar shared what appears to be a photo of an old Sears catalog that lists The Legend of Zelda along with some other old fashioned video games. This alone might be worth investigating, but the image also shows a brief recap of the game without regard to What The Legend of Zelda is really about. According to the post’s title, the 1985 Sears catalog describes The Legend of Zelda as is about collecting unidentified crystals to stop unknown lords.

Since the original The Legend of Zelda the game was first released in Japan in 1986 and West in 1987 for the NES, it seems that the Sears catalog in question doesn’t actually date back to 1985. MrCantPlayGuitar clarified in the comments that the listing This book is part of a copy of the 1987 Sears Wishbook, a large publication used to advertise potential holiday gifts. The list says NES version of The Legend of Zelda priced at $29.99, the price looks set to go all the way up to $37.99 with shipping.

As of writing, it seems fans find this odd synopsis confusing and hilarious. Some users have pointed out that there are no warlords in the NES version of The Legend of Zelda and Triforce is not made of crystals. Many users started jokingly sharing equally unhelpful summaries of the game, while another user noted that between the summary and the price, they probably wouldn’t buy The Legend of Zelda based on this list. A second user noted that this confusing synopsis may have come from a mistranslation of the game’s Japanese manual.
