The new world may soon have a winter festival event
New World game director Scot Lane teased that a winter holiday event full of new content could be coming to the MMO not long before.
Holiday events in previous MMOs were almost mandatory, providing a sense of a living world that changes with the seasons while keeping the content fresh. New world, up to this point, has not fully delivered as expected on holiday. Its Halloween offerings still have plenty to look forward to, even though it’s only a month after launch and Amazon already has other priorities. Looking ahead, however, New world seems to have bigger plans for winter.
In an interview with PCGamesN, New world Game director Scot Lane provided some insight into Amazon’s Seasonal plan for MMO. When asked if Amazon is considering seasonal changes to content reductions in the future, Lane replied affirmatively. Furthermore, when asked if the developers were continuing with those plans, Lane replied, “Yes.” Lane also confirmed, disappointingly, that he couldn’t share much about those plans. However, he made an offer New world the player a teasing as tantalizing.
Lane said with a figurative wink and nod, “winter is a great time for festivals.” Suffice it to say, Lane is talking New world players they should expect some kind of winter or holiday event to eventually be included in the MMO. It can be as thin as Halloween store pack or it could be an official MMO event with holiday cheers spreading around the world. New world Players will just have to wait and see.
While Lane doesn’t address the issue, there should really be an asterisk associated with his tease. That is because New world currently dealing with a variety of issues, including those that are impending and much-needed unified server, gold copy mining froze the MMO’s economy and other pressing problems. That means Amazon has a hand in it, which could lead to a change of plans. Anything can happen when the state of a game is chaotic.
While Amazon could theoretically postpone holiday content to focus on fixing any serious problems that exist, that would likely be a last resort. As an MMO, even without a subscription, New world need to produce new content Quick to attract players. Otherwise, the player will play something else with new content.
The end of November is coming, it’s only a matter of time before New world are expected to share any plans for the winter vacation. In fact, Land’s willingness to mention possible winter festivals could imply that an announcement is coming very soon. New world player Will definitely look forward to it.
