The actress played Jane Foster in the first two Thor films in 2011 and 2013, but returns to the franchise after almost a decade to star as Mighty Thor.

Here’s everything you need to know about it.

What happens in the trailer?

In the first teaser clip, Portman was seen masked while wielding Thor’s magical hammer Mjolnir while watching in awe.

Chris Hemsworth will reprise his role as Thor for the Norse god’s fourth film, in which Portman’s character becomes Mighty Thor, goddess of thunder, emulating Jane Foster’s arc from the comics on screen.

The new trailer shows the actress in full superhero costume as the pair reconnect and fight together.

“How long has it been three years?” Portmann asks. “Eight years, seven months and six days, more or less,” replies Hemsworth, embarrassed.

The newer trailer also reveals Christian Bale’s transformation into the galactic killer named Gorr the God Butcher, who appears bald and white with body tattoos and orange eyes.

“The only ones God cares about are themselves,” he explains, adding, “So that’s my vow: all gods must die.”

Chris Pratt also starred in the first look clip as Peter Quill, the Star Lord superhero from the Guardians of the Galaxy series.

A funny moment occurred between the two when Quill said to Thor, “Remember what I told you. If you ever feel lost, just look into the eyes of the people you love.”

When Quill tries to look over at his love interest, Gamora, Thor stares at him intently while Quill adds, “Not me.”

What happens in Thor: Love and Thunder?

The upcoming film will take Thor on a “journey he’s never felt before — a quest for inner peace,” Marvel said.

However, his retreat is interrupted by a galactic assassin named Gorr the God Butcher, who seeks the annihilation of the gods.

Together they will embark on a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the secret of the godslayer’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Who is in the cast?

It’s getting harder and harder to find an actor who hasn’t been a part of the MCU, and Thor: Love and Thunder continues to prove that point.

Alongside stars Hemsworth and Portman Tessa Thompson will also return to her role as King Valkyrie.

Jamie Alexander also returns to the film in the role of Lady Sif, while Matt Damon, Sam Neil and Luke Hemsworth will all return as Asgardian actors playing Loki, Odin and Thor.

Melissa McCarthy is also on board to play a fictionalized version of Cate Blanchett’s former villain, Hela.

While Chris Pratt is the only one to appear in the teaser trailer, other members of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast include Pom Klementieff, Sean Gun, David Bautistaand Karen Gillan All were reported to have shot a small number of scenes.

Russell Crowe – who is no stranger to the world of superhero movies, having appeared in DC’s Man of Steel nearly eight years ago – has a cameo appearance as Zeus, king of the Olympians, based on the Greek mythological deity of the same name.

Finally, Christian Balewho was last seen in a superhero film as Batman in the Dark Knight trilogy will play Gorr the God Butcher, the film’s villain.

When can I watch it?

Thor: Love and Thunder is scheduled for release on Friday July 8th.

The release was originally scheduled for November 2021 but was pushed back to February 2022 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
