The importance of living in the moment with our children

In my final e book, “Hold Transferring,” I wrote about magnificence emergencies — these moments that occur so shortly, you will need to look now or else you’ll miss them. I cherish neighborhood walks with my son and daughter, noticing the clouds, the flowers, the bugs, the birds. My 8-year-old son is an avid collector of what we name “nature treasures.” Typically I’ll slip my hand into the pocket of a coat or purse and discover one thing he left there for me — a stone, a dried flower, a shell. Typically I’ll empty his pockets once I do the laundry and discover a feather, an acorn, a leaf. (I’ve been diligent about checking pockets earlier than placing garments into the washer ever for the reason that regrettable Foolish Putty Incident.)
