New satellite images show Russian military equipment inching closer to Ukraine’s northern border in the past 24 hours as Moscow ordered the deployment of troops into Ukraine. Self-proclaimed republics of Ukraine along the eastern border of the country.

Radar images taken by Capella Space and analyzed by researchers at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies show a new Russian barracks and military tents in a forest 35 miles from the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv.

“It’s 20 kilometers from the border, which means it could move into Ukraine,” Jeffrey Lewis, Middlebury’s East Asia director, told The Daily Beast.
