The Hogwarts legacy needs to nail the common rooms for a reason

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Avalanche Software’s upcoming entry into the ever-expanding Harry Potter universe, Hogwarts legacy, may have been pushed back to 2023, but players have already seen quite a bit of the game. Featuring in-depth gameplay insights, deep dives into combat and upgrade systems, and an overview of Hogwarts legacy‘s story, fans have a pretty clear idea of what kind of game they’re getting into. While there are still some things the developer is keeping under wraps, the upcoming title is definitely taking shape ahead of its release.
One of the characteristics of Hogwarts legacy What players are particularly excited about are the various common rooms in the house. Any Harry Potter fan will know the importance of each Hogwarts house and will know that Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin each have their own unique common rooms around the castle. As Hogwarts legacy presenting these common areas and what purpose they will serve during gameplay could be crucial in delivering the right Harry Potter experience.
Show off new areas of the castle
From what players have seen Hogwarts legacy So far, it looks like there will be plenty of familiar spots for fans of the Harry Potter franchise, from the Great Hall to the school grounds. Players will also be able to explore areas such as the Forbidden Forest, Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade Village, creating many different connections between the game and the wider Harry Potter universe. Most of the settings that players will be able to experience will be something they have already seen in the movies, but there are also some that will be brand new or different or more diverse than what you are used to.
One aspect that is fleshed out for the game is the various Hogwarts common rooms. The audience has already spent a lot of time in the Gryffindor common room as the main trio consists of Harry, Ron and Hermione’s house affiliations. However, the common areas of the other houses were rarely shown, if they were shown at all. Hogwarts legacy has the opportunity to fully explore this communal side of each house and create a different personality for each part of the school residents. It seems like the developer paid close attention to the settings and influences for each house, but players will be interested in exploring these for themselves.
A social center for the school
But it’s not just important to nail down the look and feel of each common space to ensure they’re individual, interesting, and properly reflect your home. Each common room must also serve an actual purpose within the game. Whichever Hogwarts House players choose for their protagonist, their own individual common room will be the social hub for their character. Here they will interact with other students, make friends, and possibly recruit companions for quests outside the castle walls.
While players can also interact with NPCs in classes, on the grounds, and in the Great Hall, the common room is a way for them to fully immerse themselves in the school’s culture and feel like they’re actually attending Hogwarts and representing their house . The common rooms should be a hub world of sorts that players can always come back to, and there will be plenty of Harry Potter fans who will pay close attention to how Hogwarts legacy takes care of this important element.
Hogwarts legacy launches February 10 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, with a Switch version also in development.
