Do we ever get tired of watching teenagers do terrible, horrible, not good, very bad things? Tell it to me: no! In honor of this great tradition, I’m here to announce that HBO Max just dropped the trailer for the second season of Happiness, the program made us all wonder if we should stick eyelid decals. (The answer, we’ve learned the hard way, is also no.) But fear not: The next season promises to have even more awesome glitter makeovers, not to mention the streamers. too many parties, people leaning out of cars too far, many policemen honking their sirens, and… a possible kidnapping???
Squeeze your emotions, because this trailer has it all. Eric Dane shouted from the window of a speeding car. Alexa Demie dances in a diamond-encrusted crop top. Multiple weapons dangled from unidentified hands, looking like they were about to be used. Oh, what do we have here? A newcomer with a heart-shaped face tattoo, looking ominously at the ground in his frugal coat? This looks promising!
Also promising: a completely uplifting quote from Zendaya’s Rue recounts the sneak peek. “When you’re younger, everything feels permanent,” she choked out in her signature monotone. “But as you get older, you start to realize nothing is. And all the people you love can drift away.”
The last time we saw Rue, she and Jules (Hunter Schafer) were still dealing with the events of last season in two Christmas Eve specials. As for the rest of the kids, we left them in a state of drunkenness and drama at the winter ceremony. It seems like they’re all doing great right now, actually healing in a healthy and agile way through the challenges of being a teenager in the modern world. Who is ready to feel deeply sad and anxious this winter, but, like, with twinkle? I’m sure!
