At a time when games are scrambling to find new and innovative ways to monetize themselves, the Season Pass reigns supreme. So it’s not surprising that The Callisto Protocol will come with its own Season Pass.
First reported by the folks at VGC, the Season Pass information was discovered after it was added to The Callisto Protocol’s Steam page.
The Season Pass will be available to all purchasers of the Digital Deluxe version of the game and includes Story DLC, the Contagion Bundle, the Riot Bundle and the Outer Way skin collection.
The Contagion Bundle is a brand new game mode for The Callisto Protocol that is not for the faint of heart. This mode will have less ammo and health loss, and permadeath will be a thing. In this mode, which is intended for the toughest players, there is no room for error. In addition to the new mode, there will also be 13 brand new death animations for the protagonist Jacob.
At first I was concerned about the new death animations, with concerns that my experience with The Callisto Protocol won’t really be as gory as I would like. That’s what Glen Schofield said Twitter to address these concerns as I was far from the only one concerned. “To be clear, we’re not holding back anything from the base game for the Season Pass,” shares Schofield.
“We haven’t even started work on this content yet. It’s all new stuff that we’ll be working on in the new year. Fans have been calling for EVEN MORE deaths so we’re making it a priority next year.”

So, the Callisto Protocol will ship as intended, with all the content of the new Season Pass still a work in progress. That means no one will miss any cool details or finishers when the game launches, and I’m glad to hear that.
In addition to the new skin collection and the Contagion bundle, the Season Pass also introduces the Riot bundle. This takes you to an unprecedented area of the Black Iron Prison and puts you face to face with hordes of enemies. You need to earn credits to upgrade your equipment and survive as long as possible in this new game mode. Additionally, the Riot Bundle includes 12 new death animations and the Engineer skin collection.
It seems that those looking to get more out of the Callisto Protocol will get their money’s worth. Two new game modes, dozens of new death animations and more story DLC will keep everyone busy, especially over the holiday season.
