This article contains spoilers for Books by Boba Fett episode 5

Books by Boba Fett So far there has been a mixed reception from fans. The story is relatively slow-paced and filled with motivation-killing flashbacks, Boba Fett himself is a jerk, and there’s little variety in locations as the whole set is set in on Tatooine. This week’s episode changed all that… by turning into Mandalorian.

After tease the appearance of Din Djarin In the closing moments of episode 4, this week’s adventure – ‘Return of the Mandalorian’ – is actually a new episode on his own show. After the events of season two, he returned to bounty hunting, though we soon learn his real goal is to hunt down Armorer on a Halo-like ringworld.

His encounters with her yield a lot of explanations and hints as to where season three of Mandalorian will. It looks like we’ll see Din Djarin learn how to wield the Darksaber, a weapon that’s dangerous and unwieldy for those not attuned to the Force. We also have a big hint that Bo Katan will be back, with her lieutenant Paz Vizsla quickly challenging Din to a duel for the sword.

We later learned that Din breaking his rule of never taking off his helmet would result in him being declared an apostate unless he purifies himself in the “living waters.” below the Mandalore mine”. This may prove difficult as they appear to have been destroyed by the Empire’s bombardment.

The rest of the episode sees Din take a new ride on Tatooine. In a nice nod to previous installments, here’s the Naboo Starfighter, the beautiful craft used by the Royal Guard in The Phantom Menace. A large part of the episode is simply Din and Peli Motto fixing the old girl and adding some aftermarket tweaks, before an exhilarating ride through what appears to be an old pod car lap.

It all ended with Fennec Shand coming in to hire Din, though before he stepped in as Boba Fett’s muscle, he visited to repay everyone’s favorite little green Jedi. . Sadly we didn’t see that, but it looks like Grogu will be back soon.

After all that, I bet most viewers won’t notice one bit that Boba Fett isn’t around this week. Books by Boba Fett. But when it’s fun to watch, who cares?
