Warning: This article contains vandals for Boba Fett’s book.

The first episode of Books by Boba Fett premieres yesterday, introducing us to many new characters that are sure to put Boba Fett and Fennec Shand in a lot of trouble. But it was a character from an unnamed background that caught the attention of curious fans of Twi’leks’ gender.

We won’t be discussing any plot details, but we will be dropping some new character names and locations. Read ahead at your own discretion.

Warning: Spoilers to follow.

In Garsa Fwip’s cantina in Mos Espa, we briefly see two characters who are referred to as “Twi’lek servers.” Yellow Twi’lek is played by Andrea Bartlow while green Twi’lek – who initially gained attention with his topless look – is played by Marlon Aquino.

Images of the green Twi’lek have gone viral on Twitter, accompanied by transgender flag emojis and spoiler warnings.

Even if you are Star Wars nerd, you might be wondering what exactly makes some fans think this character is transgender. Well, let’s talk about Twi’lek biology.

Originally from the planet Ryloth, Twi’lek developed the prominent lekku, or head tail. But they have another unique and sexual feature — their ears. In a year 2015 Rebels Recon interviewer, Lucasfilm Story Team member and expert on everything Star Wars “Male Twi’leks have lobed ears like you and me, but females have cones,” says Pablo Hidalgo.

If you look closely at the green Twi’lek, you’ll notice they also have conical ears like the notable Twi’leks Hera Syndulla and Aayla Secura.

The small detail has left some fans ecstatic. One tweet read: “I will be so touched by the lil green gentleman and his cone-shaped ears so clearly I can’t even capture a non-blurred screen cap”

The character has been read as a transgender man with their looks. Naturally, top surgical jokes are popping up.

Another speculated on gender-confirmed care for Twi’leks, wondering if there was ear surgery or, as one tweet said: “True top surgery”

And while some weren’t sure if it was a deliberate choice of outfit or oversight, one keen viewer pointed out how we’ve seen Twi’leks play with gender before.

Books by Boba Fett continues every Wednesday on Disney Plus.
