The Marvel Cinematic Universe is an ever-expanding world inhabited by all sorts of colorful characters. Some of them are from distant worlds, while others are just ordinary humans with powers that motivate them. Some of them use that power for good, while others use it for more sinister intentions.
However, some of the loveliest stars in the MCU aren’t heroes or villains – or even humans, for that matter. Some of the MCU’s greatest secret champions are cute and cuddly pets. Some of them are normal animals, while others have superpowers of their own. But they all have one thing in common: they’re all adorable.
The most prominent pet in the MCU so far is Captain Marvel’s loyal cat, Goose – originally named Chewie in the comics as a reference to Chewbacca. belong to Star Wars reputation, but renamed after a Top Guns characters for the big screen. Goose was originally owned by Carol Danvers’ mentor Mar-Vell, aka Dr. Wendy Lawson, and remained at the SHIELD base where she worked long after her death. When Goose sees Carol return to base with Nick Fury, she doesn’t hesitate to pursue their adventure.
Of course, near the end of the film, it is revealed that Goose is not a cat at all, but a deadly alien entity known as the Flerken, which harbors a seemingly endless swar of tentacles beneath the tabby face. its cute orange color. Goose is shown to be instrumental in preventing the Kree Empire from gaining control of the Tesseract (aka Cosmic Cube, Also known as the Infinity Stone of Space), swallow whole for safekeeping. Even then, Goose has the same temperament as a real cat, as shown when she scratched Fury’s left eye. The Goose was last seen in Fury’s care after Carol left Earth, but with Fury now in space, it may not be long before Captain Marvel will be reunited with her loyal Flerken.
The most recent addition to the MCU’s pet lineup, and without a doubt one of the cutest animals, Lucky – aka “Pizza Dog” – is featured prominently in the series. Hawk Eye Drama series on Disney Plus. In the comics, Lucky was introduced in the first issue of Matt Fraction and David Aja’s 2012 Hawk Eye chain, acting as the main influence behind MCU Hawk Eye recital. In the source material, the golden retriever was saved by Clint after losing an eye during an encounter with the Mafia Tracksuit. Clint brought the dog in and renamed it after seeing that the name on its collar was, as fate would have put it, “Arrow”.
In the TV series, Kate Bishop is the one who adopts and eventually names him Lucky – and introduces him to pizza, for that matter. Unlike Goose, Lucky is a normal pet that doesn’t have any special powers, so he’s always at home whenever there’s crime fighting. But even just an ordinary dog, Lucky the Pizza Dog still won the hearts of fans everywhere.
Shift gears from mundane back to the supernatural, Morris from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is a mystical being known as Dijiang from the Ta Lo realm of the afterlife. Originally, Morris belonged to Ying Li, mother of Shang-Chi and wife of Wenwu. But after her death, he befriends Wenwu’s imprisoned Trevor Slattery, aka the fake Mandarin from Iron Man 3. Morris is glad he was so helpful, and he was instrumental in helping Shang-Chi and Katy get to Ta Lo before Wenwu and his forces.
The most unfortunate pet on this list, Sparky appeared in the fifth episode of WandaVision, in which the Jack Russell terrier is adopted by Wanda .’s twin sons Billy and Tommy. But while Sparky quickly befriends the Maximoff family, he is found dead before the episode ends. At the end of the next episode, it is revealed that the culprit responsible for Sparky’s death is none other than the witch Agatha Harkness, aka Wanda’s neighbor, Agnes. The villains of the MCU have committed many heinous crimes, from trying to take over the world to wiping out half of life in the universe. But of all those atrocities, killing a sweet, innocent puppy is perhaps the most unforgivable.
One of the weirdest pets in the MCU isn’t a dog, a cat, or even a supernatural being, but an ant that was accidentally enlarged. by Ant-Man’s Pym Particles in the battle with Yellowjacket. The Giant Ant hangs around after the fight, and it shows that Scott’s daughter Cassie is very fond of the insect. Then in Ant-Man and the Wasp, Giant Ant-Man returns as part of Scott’s plan to escape house arrest. Oddly enough, despite Scott’s tendency to name his favorite ants (Ant-thony in the first, Ant-tonio Banderas in the second), the Giant Ant never received a name. own, so the general nomenclature here.
This cosmic experimenter makes a very brief appearance in the MCU, but he’s too precious to be missed. Cosmo is introduced in Guardians of the Galaxy is one of the captives in the Collector’s collection, who is freed when the Collector’s long-term assistant Carina destroys the museum with the Power Stone. Cosmo reappears in the film’s post-credits scene, licking the face of a distraught Collector at Howard the Duck’s disgust. Cosmo appeared again in the second episode of What if…?, set off aboard T’Challa’s ship after the Collector’s war and traveled with the Ravagers to Wakanda.
Super pets aren’t just for heroes – this massive Asgardian wolf is Hela’s loyal watchdog in Thor: Ragnarok. In both the comics and the mythology that inspired them, Fenris (aka Fenrir, a.k.a. Fenris Wolf) is no wild beast, but a god in his own right, not to mention Loki’s son and Hela’s brother. But in the MCU, Fenris doesn’t appear to be any smarter than a normal wolf, and is portrayed as Hela’s pet rather than her sibling. But either way, Fenris on the big screen is hard enough to take on the role of Hulk on his own.
Speaking of Asgardian creatures, this last entry will likely object to being called a pet – if he can speak, that is. Alligator Loki, as the name suggests, is a version of Loki who is also a crocodile. It is never explained how or why this Loki is a crocodile, but he counts among Loki’s variants introduced in the fifth volume of Loki Part 1. He may not have the vast mystical powers of his fellow variants, but he still can’t be ignored. Just ask Chairman Loki, whose arm was bitten off by the crocodile Loki during a tense standoff. It just shows that anything is possible in an infinite multiverse.
Emma Watson recalls a moment during the filming of Harry Potter when she got suspicious about a famous scene.
