In 2021, makeup emerges triumphantly from the ashes left behind pandemic caused by corona virus. Vaccinations are done, masks are removed, and we all hesitantly dip our toes back into makeup with tinted moisturizers, light mascara, and clear gels. Next year will be a completely different story. With the more mundane we’ve had in the past few years, people are flocking to makeup with textures, shine and bold colors in the riot of makeup-free living at home – trend forecast Our year of the year is proof of that.
We search all the latest products on the market, scroll constantly on social media and poll some of our favorite makeup artists to determine The biggest makeup trend of 2022. TL; DR: We’re all about to learn how to make a big impact with a little effort.
Light, luminous base
Easy makeup never goes out of style, and that’s why make-up artist Tommy Napoli insists that lack of fabric is going nowhere in 2022. “Everybody else’s priority after COVID- 19, at least for their everyday [makeup]”, he explains. Not to mention many are still looking for ‘an antithesis to layered and powdered Instaglam’ after spending most of the 2010s. Makeup artist Delina Medhin concurs. :” I see that people are wearing less skin tone [makeup] in general,” she said.
And thank goodness we don’t think anyone wants to go back to mixing their all-round foundation for 10 minutes a day. Instead, we’re happy to sacrifice some of the texture, discoloration, and visible blemishes to create products that are easier to apply and much more comfortable – like Cle Cosmetics CCC Cream or Beauty wins the Most Beautiful award Estée Lauder Double Wear Sheer Long-Wear Makeup.
We’ll also wear less highlighter, if makeup artist Lavonne’s predictions are right (and they always are). While looking wet dolphin skin has dominated trends for the past few years, what she describes as a “bright” finish – not matte, not extremely dewy, but somewhere out – about to evolve. The runway look determines next year’s makeup trends, and the spring shows have these elements in mind, she explains. (And she’s right – just look at the photo above from John Richmond’s Spring/Summer 2022 show at Milan Fashion Week.)
