Teleport will likely take on a new look in 2022.
Summoning spells, which have become a top and mid lane staple in recent years, can be nerfed significantly, limiting it to allied buildings for the first 14 minutes of the game .
“After channeling for four seconds, teleport your champion to an allied target structure“, the spell read on League of Legends public testing environment (PBE). “Upgrade to Unreleased Teleport at 14 minutes.”
“Unleashed Teleport” is the regular version of Teleport that players are familiar with on Summoner’s Rift, which can now be channeled onto Zac’s ally buildings, minions, wards, traps, and passive blocks.
Nerf, if it shows up in the day before the 2022 season, could have a lasting effect on the meta.
It prevents champions, especially top laners, from punishing bot lane early in the game, giving players more space. It also prevents early skirmishes, slowing down the overall pacing of the game. In turn, the final nerf can force top laners to farm for the first 14 minutes, leaving little room for creativity.
However, this change is tentative and could easily be reverted before the next patch hits live servers in two weeks’ time. Patch 11.25 is scheduled for December 22.
