Tedeschi Trucks Band Cover Derek and the Dominos on CBS This Morning

Tedeschi . truck band mark the release their live album Layla Revisited (Live at Lockn’) by doing three Derek and the Dominos song for CBS this morningSaturday sessions.

Performing from a New Haven, Connecticut amphitheater, Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks and company covered “Bell Bottom Blues”, “Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad?” and (in front of the audience) “Key to the Highway” from Layla and other love songs; Tedeschi Trucks Band’s Layla is reviewed was a live performance from that classic LP’s full album – featuring Eric Clapton, Duane Allman, Bobby Whitlock and more – recorded live at the Lock’n Festival in August 2019. with guests like Trey Anastasio.

As previously noted by Tedeschi and Trucks, the pair have some connection to Layla and other love songs: The album was released on Susan Tedeschi’s birthday in November 1970, and Trucks were both named after Derek and the Dominos and former Allman Brothers Band members.

“By the time I started playing guitar, Duane Allman’s sliding sound was almost an obsession,” Trucks said in a statement. “The fact that he played Layla is still one of the high marks for me. Its spirit, its joy, its recklessness and its inevitability. My dad would play that record for me and my brother to oversleep and keep looking it up into my DNA.”
