Teams and Formulas Revealed for VCT Champions 2021

Less than two weeks before the final VALUABLE Champions Tour event begins, format and groups are now available disclosure for VCT Champions 2021 starting on December 1st.

The champions will use the same format as the VCT Masters Three Berlin. Four groups of four teams will compete in GSL style, their own knockout group stage, selecting two teams from each group to advance to the knockout round.

Here are the teams at VCT Champions:

  • Group A: Acend, Team Envy, Vivo Keyd, X10 Esports
  • Group B: Sentinels, Team Liquid, FURIA, KRU Esports
  • Group C: Gambit, Crazy Raccoon, Team Secret, Team Vikings
  • EASY group: Vision Strikers, Fnatic, Cloud9, Full Sense

According to Riot Games, teams are drawn based on “a combination of their respective final spots at Challenger events and the strength of their region”. Additionally, Riot wants to make sure that teams won’t be grouped with teams from their region. All four EMEA teams are in separate groups, and three teams each in North Asia, Southeast Asia and Brazil have also been split.

Following the conclusion of the group stage, all eight playoff teams will be seeded by random draw. The winner of the group will play the runner-up of the other group in the opening round. All matches will be best-three, except for the best-of-five final on Sunday, December 12.

The first match of the group stage begins at 8 a.m. CT on Wednesday, December 1 when Vision Strikers play against Full Sense.
