Food is fuel! Make it Olympic It’s more than just intense training – it requires athletes to stick to a healthier diet. But that doesn’t mean cheat day is off the table.
Fence Fence of Team America Lee Kiefer and Gerek Meinhardt dreamed about what they would eat when they Tokyo Olympics event has ended.
“There will definitely be more than one day of cheating after Tokyo,” Meinhardt, 30, said exclusively Our weekly before flying to Japan to compete with Kiefer, 27. “It would take me all week to eat burritos and basically everything that I think about every day but try not to eat.”
Kiefer, who used to married Meinhardt as of September 2019, noted that the duo “try to eat lots of lean protein,” including turkey, fish, and tofu, during their workouts. When the competition is over, the celebration begins.
“In London and Rio, we were definitely at McDonald’s after our competition,” three-time athlete further.

“For breakfast, I usually have avocado toast with eggs or almond butter and banana toast,” she explains. “I love salads. I always have some hearty salad in my day.”
The 20-year-old athlete notes that she still occasionally eats a cookie if she feels “craving”.
Paralympian volleyball player Kaleo Maclay, for her part, she revealed that she is “balancing” with her diet, naming avocado toast, oatmeal, and yogurt as her regular breakfast items.
For lunch, 25 year old athlete says she “likes” sandwiches and salads, admitting that her dietitian isn’t a huge fan of her #1 dish: Chick-fil-A cobb salad. “It’s just so good after a workout,” she said We, adding that her husband often makes her dinner during her busy workout schedule.
Softball star Osterman cat, who is retiring for the Tokyo Olympics, says her diet revolves around the types of workouts she plans to do for the day. Her breakfast consists of smoothies or homemade hash browns.
While Osterman, 38, tries to keep “half healthy”, she says We that she “occasionally” enjoys chicken nuggets from Chick-fil-A for lunch. “I have bad days. I love food,” she said.
