LJL’s Burning Core has selected two former Gen.G Challengers players today. Mid laner Hong “Dice” Do-hyeon and jungler Sung “Flawless” Yeon-jun will be joining the team for the 2022 season.
This will be the third region and eighth team Flawless has competed in, most notably their short stints against JDG, APK Prince, Gen.G Challengers, and the Gen.G main roster. Dice has played on the Gen.G Challengers his entire youth career, starting on the Academy roster in 2020.
The two LCK CL players will join Minato “RayFarky” Shinohara, Yuhi “Yuhi” Nakanishi, and Ryo Fujimoto in Burning Core. The LJL team made their debut in 2017, although they only made it to the knockout stages once at the LJL 2020 Summer. Burning Core hopes to change the team’s reputation and revive their roster with two promising prospects from the LCK.
LJL made history at Worlds 2021 when Detonation FocusMe became the first team from Japan to qualify for the Play-Ins Round and qualify for the Group Stage. With LJL looking to be on the rise, we could see more competitors emerge in the region.
While Gen.G’s main roster is already set up, so far, Gen.G Challengers has only two active players: mid laner Kim “Karis” Hong-jo and replacement mid laner Baek “Ophelia” Jin-seong. The organization will have to fill four vacancies before the team’s scheduled appearance at the 2021 KeSPA Cup.
