Tales from the Borderlands is getting a sequel later this year

The Borderlands adventure game spinoff is coming back with something brand new. The Stories from Borderlands The series will return later this year with a new interactive fantasy-style game, Gearbox announced at PAX East on Thursday.

While the details of the project are light, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford let fans know how different the project will be from the previous game.

“We’re doing it this time around to imagine all-new characters and completely new stories from the Borderlands,” Pritchford told the crowd on the studio’s PAX East show. “So we’re soon announcing a brand new game set in the Borderlands universe and presented in an interactive fiction style. I’m talking about something completely new Stories from Borderlands adventure.”

Stories from Borderlands was originally developed by TellTale Games and tells a story in five episodes. After Telltale Games closed in 2018, the franchise was sold to 2K Games, the owners of the Borderlands franchise. This latest game will be published by 2K and developed by Borderlands studio Gearbox. In fact, according to Pitchford, Gearbox has been working with Stories from Borderlands secret games for the past few years.

Pitchford also told the crowd that they can expect a full reveal of the new game this summer, before it’s released later this year.
