T-Pain Reveals How Many Streams It Takes For Artists To Make $1, Fans React To Napster’s Highest Paying Artist
T-Pain burned the Internet and people are talking! The 36-year-old singer is currently trending after he shared a photo detailing how many streams an artist needs on various music platforms to earn just $1. The tweet has since garnered over 70k likes and nearly 24k retweets at the time of this writing. With his tweet, T-Pain reminds us how many streams an artist needs to make any money.
Many fans were surprised by these numbers, especially from big-name streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. According to the RIAA 2020 report, WILLbalance $.00437 per thread on average while Apple Music average around $0.00783.
Thanks to T-Pains‘ tweet, fans were shocked to learn that not only Napster still exists in 2021, but the company pays artists the most per stream compared to other streaming competitors. This is quite ironic considering that Napster has historically been said to have almost “killed the music industry”. The company filed for bankruptcy in 2002 after losing a series of copyright infringement lawsuits, most notably being dealt with by rock band Metallica in 2000.
T-Pain’s the tweet immediately became a Napster trend on Twitter, with many people react against the news that the controversial company was once seen as the villain of the music industry and now appears to be the ‘good guy’ of streaming. See the reaction below:
