Suspected rebels kill 16 in eastern Congo
The ADF, which originated in neighboring Uganda, has caused an increasing number of attacks in and around Beni over the past few years even as communities have been hit by the Ebola epidemic. The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for a number of attacks carried out by ADF rebels, but the exact relationship between these groups is unclear.
