Actress Susan Sarandon recently took a page from Bette Midler with a radical tweet about the funeral of a New York City Police officer and liked Midler to her harsh remarks about West Virginia just apologized for it.
On Saturday, political commentator Danny Haiphong shared an image on Twitter of police escorting a hearse containing the body of Officer Jason Rivera down Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. Officials have was killed on January 21 with partner Wilbert Mora while responding to a domestic violence report.
As we reportedSarandon then shared pictures with flames added in the background and her own words asking if these police officers were needed if they weren’t needed to patrol the march. The photo was later deleted, but not before it sparked a storm of criticism. A former campaign official with President Barack Obama and President Joe Biden call her a bad person. Sarandon has since said that she did not associate the image with the police funeral.
After a summer of protests and continuing heated rhetoric, it is clear that the heat surrounding police discussions and their place in American culture still burns.
