‘Surviving 9/11’: Keshet Scores Raft of Pre-Sales on BBC Documentary

Keshet International completed the next pre-sale on “Surviving 11/9,” Top Hat Productions Documentary Series for BBC.

NS BBC commissioned the film to mark the 20th anniversary of the tragedy that happened this year.

Keshet has completed licensing deals with The Seven Network in Australia; Globo in Brazil; CBC in Canada for both the CBC network and its network Société Radio-Canada; TVNZ in New Zealand; DPG Media in Belgium; RTV in Slovenia; NRK in Norway; Sky Deutschland in Germany; KAN in Israel; AMC Networks International Southern Europe in Spain and Portugal for the Odisea / Odisseia channel; and Rai Documentari in Italy. Hoopla Digital has acquired the rights to stream the library in the US and Canada.

Keshet’s previous sales on a documentary film formerly titled “September 11: Twenty Years”, directed by BAFTA-winning filmmaker Arthur Cary (“The Last Survivors”), were for Canal Plus Group in France, TV2 in Denmark, TV4 in Sweden, RTL in the Netherlands and Discovery in the US Talks are ongoing with broadcasters worldwide.

“Surviving 9/11” takes the form of two intertwined stories: the two-hour period when terrorists hijacked four planes and crashed three of them into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon, and the story of 20 years since then. Combining testimonies from American and British interviewees and private and public archives, the day’s story unfolds in near real-time. Detailed storytelling of moments of the day is interspersed with contemporary scenes that explore how individuals’ lives continue to be affected by those events. The film also explores the effects of 9/11 on the wider world.
