It’s been a while since we’ve heard of Super Mario Galaxy. In fact, more than a dozen years have passed since we saw a new game in the series. So what is the word above? Super Mario Galaxy 3? Super Mario Galaxy 3 has no release date. In fact, Nintendo didn’t say they were working on the game. As far as we know, the series ended in Super Mario Galaxy 2 and there are no plans for another sequel.

The last time we got any kind of real official word about Super Mario Galaxy was in 2015. In a report from Eurogamer, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto said it opened the “opportunity” for a new Galaxy game. However, the team cited concerns about motion sickness, and ultimately decided that “returning to the roots” was a smarter decision.

In other words, it’s not like Super Mario Galaxy 3 will never be made. But for now, the team is focusing on different projects. And so, it’s been almost 13 years, apparently. It’s always been a possibility, but at this rate it doesn’t seem like a priority.

Will Super Mario Galaxy 3 come to PlayStation or Xbox?

Games developed by Nintendo and released only for Nintendo hardware. Therefore, Super Mario Galaxy 3 will not release for PlayStation or Xbox. It’s Nintendo property, so it will only be available on Nintendo consoles, like original game.

Nintendo did not provide a release date for Super Mario Galaxy 3. The game was neither developed nor announced. Until we hear otherwise, it’s best to assume it won’t happen. Luckily, you can play Super Mario Galaxy on Switch through its recent release Super Mario 3D All-Stars collect.
