Stolen license plate in Saskatoon leads to two arrests, gun confiscation – Saskatoon

The Saskatoon Police Service said two people were arrested Thursday after a suspect vehicle showed a stolen license plate.

Officials said they saw the Jeep SUV around 7 p.m. near West 20th Street and Avenue P South and believed it was involved in a previous mischief file.

The license plate was confirmed stolen and the SUV was found parked nearby. Police questioned the driver and passenger and saw a firearm in the vehicle.

Both individuals were arrested and further investigation resulted in the seizure of a .22 caliber AR-style firearm, ammunition and spent cartridges, an empty magazine, the stolen license plate and the stolen Jeep SUV.

A 38-year-old man and 25-year-old woman face multiple charges related to firearms and possession of stolen property.

The man was also found in violation of several court-imposed restrictions.
