Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel lash out at Trump for arguing Biden with COVID

As Stephen Colbert did explain to him Late show audience first, he spent most of 2021 trying his best not to talk about former President Donald Trump. “But no matter how hard you try to avoid him,” he said Wednesday night, “his name just keeps coming up.”

The latest story that Colbert can’t miss comes from Manager, the new book by former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, who revealed that Trump actually tested positive for COVID-19 three days before his September 2020 debate with Joe Biden, not after the debate as he previously claimed.

“Who knew he might have been active in that Tuesday’s debate?” Colbert asked before cutting a clip about how he only hinted at it in a clip that aired on The Late Show after Trump was hospitalized a few days after the live event. “You can’t go wrong betting on the former president lying,” he added.

Colbert later noted that while Trump receiving a negative test result is “fully allowed to press on as if nothing happened,” Meadows instructed his staff to treat the president as if nothing had happened. he is positive. “So don’t touch him, don’t get close to him, avoid him unless absolutely necessary,” said the presenter. “A strategy the CDC calls ‘The Melania.'”

Jimmy Kimmel also spent a good part of his late-night monologue on Wednesday delving into Trump’s COVID diagnosis timeline. And he directly appealed to Fox News for letting Trump in without a negative sign on the day of the debate.

“Fox shouldn’t have let him argue,” Kimmel said. “Joe Biden is 143 years old and debate moderator Chris Wallace is no spring chicken either. He said they were relying on the honor system. You can also rely on the Dewey Decimal System. Have you met Donald Trump? Of course Typhoid Harry wants to argue anyway! ”

“If you do the math on COVID, that means Trump had it at the little soiree he threw at Judge Amy Coney Barrett, then at least eight people there tested positive.” the presenter added. “I wonder whose hands they all shook at that party.”

But what angered Kimmel most was the way Trump then tried to blame his own COVID diagnosis on the Gold Star families he met after we learned he had tested positive.

“The only thing that is shocking about any of this is that anyone would be shocked by it,” Kimmel said. “Of course he didn’t tell the Gold Star family and Supreme Court justice and Joe Biden that he was positive. Here’s a guy who doesn’t even wear a condom with a porn star! ”
