Start and end dates for all Overwatch seasons
Overwatch players have experienced 31 competitive seasons over the past 5 years, from season one in 2016 to season 31 in 2021. During that time, 11 new heroes and 20 new maps have been released.
Each season in the character-based first-person shooter lasts about two months but tends to vary from season to season. Overwatch’s the first season began on June 28, 2016 and ended on August 17 of the same year, while season 31 began on November 4, 2021 and will end on January 6, 2022.
The latest season, season 31, begins in November. Not all seasons come with new heroes, maps, or updates to the game, but major changes often coincide with the seasons. Season 21, for instance, introduced hero bans into the game.
