Star Citizen has earned over $4 million in funding as of this weekend

Star Citizen has come a long way since its $2 million Kickstarter campaign in 2012. While the actual game is still in Alpha stage after years of development, that hasn’t stopped players from buying the game and buy ships that they can use to explore the vast “Continuous Universe” MMO space simulation.
Since this writing, the game has earned over 400 million dollars in funding, with the recent spike in player spending thanks to the annual Intergalactic Aerospace Expo free-to-play event. The event started last week and will run until December 1NS, giving anyone wanting to play the game the chance to test-fly multiple ships over the next few days.
Meanwhile, the developers at Cloud Imperium Games have released a new video that provides a preview of the first-person features currently in development. One of the highlights of the video is a “magic ray” shooting tool that allows the player to salvage ship wreckage and use it to repair their ship. The team also talked about the work being done on new ammunition types, such as incendiary and armor-piercing, non-damage weapons, and weapon durability systems.
You can watch that and more in the latest episode of Star Citizen Live. You’ll find that right below.
