Spider-Man: No Way Home Rangers Sony fans for “lazy” new poster

In typical Internet fashion, the online community spent hours promoting a potentially large announcement related to Spider-Man: There’s no way home, turns out to be a brand new poster for next month’s multiverse Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster.

In 99% of cases you would think that’s enough to keep them happy for the next 24 hours until the trailer is most likely the most anticipated trailer in launch history, right? Mistake! From almost the second, a sheet landed online, Sony has been under fire for its unattractive design, and you can see some of the reactions below.

Admittedly, the naysayers have a point. It is identical to Willem Dafoe’s Green Elf plant placed in an almost identical location, while Doctor Octopus’ tentacles are the focal point in the foreground of the first poster, too. Let’s hope Sony’s design team doesn’t have to work overtime on this one, because a quick glance at Twitter and you’ll find at least a dozen deluxe fan-made versions in no time.

On the plus side, at least the second full-length ad is being made available for one and all tomorrow, which should pass Spider-Man: There’s no way home tough for at least a while longer. In theory, anyway.
