Cloud9 is signing former Shadow Battalica support Kim “Winsome” Dong-keon, who will be competing for a spot in the starting lineup this season, sources familiar with the matter told Dot Esports.

Winsome is the second of Cloud9 free agents to sign for this season as they rebuild their roster. He will be competing for a spot with Cloud9 Academy support Jonah “Isles” Rosario, whose season in the LCS Academy system has earned him promotion from other teams this season.

The team is also adding former Liiv SANDBOX top laner Park “Summit” Woo-tae, as first reported by Travis Gafford and Upcomer and endorsed by Dot Esports. Summit and Winsome will join a team that currently includes jungler Blaber, as well as top laner Fudge, who has signed a contract extension through 2025 and is expected to swap roles to mid. The team also has AD’s Zven under contract through 2023 – although his future on the team is uncertain.

The team’s new AD carry position is still being determined and the team could eventually win against Zven, but with the signing of Winsome, the team’s roster building is flexible. Even though he competed in League Champions Korea Challenger league, Winsome was born in the United States and lived in this country as a child. As a result, he is considered a North American resident under Riot’s inter-regional travel policy — and does not penalize the team for losing import placement.

According to sources, Cloud9 is one of many teams trying to recruit former T1 Challengers AD carry, bringing in Kim “Berserker” Min-cheol. Berserker is one of the most anticipated Korean amateurs among scouts, analysts, and fans — and along with Cloud9, he has suitors in China. League Pro League, a source said.

The team is also trying to recruit Nick “LS” De Cesare, the sources said. He is currently a full-time streamer of T1 but has a long history of professional coaching. He is most recently the Korean bbq coach Olivers, but also coaches League Championship Series and Challenger Series with Gravity, Tempo Storm and Counter Logic Gaming. A resident of Korea, LS is plugged into Korea League of Legends community and its rising talent. Cloud9 head coach Mithy moved to 100 Thieves as an assistant coach on Monday, as reported by Dot Esports.

Cloud9 is back from the 2021 World Championship after a quarter-final loss to Gen.G on October 25th — and they quickly began looking at roster alternatives for next season.

Mid laner Perkz decided before the Gen.G series that he wanted to return home to Europe to be closer to his family, like Reported by Dot Esports. Now he will go to Team Vitality. Cloud9 also reached an acquisition agreement next Monday night move Vulcan support to Evil Geniuses. | Source: Cloud9 sign to support Korea Winsome, Top laner Summit
