Son of ex-NYPD commander accused of plowing BMW through protest

The 18-year-old son of a retired NYPD deputy inspector was arrested for allegedly driving his BMW through a group of protesters this week in the West Village, injuring a teenager.
Justin Burgos, of Staten Island, was driving in the area around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday when he honked his bike at protesters, who were blocking the corner of Bleecker Street and West 10th Street and he We tried to get past them, police said.
As protesters surrounded his Beemer, Burgos sped through the crowd, attacking an 18-year-old man who injured his right knee, police said. The injured teenager was treated by EMS at the scene.
Some people shot video of the incident, including photographer Leeroy Johnson, who wrote on Twitter that the car nearly hit an officer.
User @AshAgony posted a video and wrote: “Protesters run after cars and then police run after them and cars.”
Police said the driver was stopped nearby at Grove Street and West 6th Street.
Burgos, of Rossville, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident with an injury, recklessly endangering, obstructing government action and fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle.
He was also slapped for breaking the windshield.
