Son drops lawsuit against family after racism lawsuit

The story of a Rapid City, SD hotel embroiled in racial tension took a bizarre turn this week, followed by another on Saturday.

The Grand Gateway Hotel became the center of drama in March when the owner posted a racist tweet following a murder at the hotel. This led to ongoing protests at the hotel and criticism from local officials.

On Monday, June 6, Judson Uhre filed a Pennington County lawsuit against his mother, Connie, who posted the racist tweet, and his brothers, Nick and Chad Uhre. He also sued Retsel Corporation, a family business, for breach of fiduciary duty, stockholder oppression and tortious interference with the operations of the hotel.
