A Florida bank is the subject of a attempted robbery, with the suspect hiding behind a mask crafted after the iconic video game character Sonic the Hedgehog.
According to a Reporting by West Volusia Beaconpolice received a call about the incident at a DeLand branch of Florida Credit Union around 4:23 p.m. on February 2. When they arrived at the scene, a witness told them the robber was wearing a Sonic mask. entered the bank with a hammer in hand and demanded money from the teller.
After hitting the teller’s window with a hammer, the suspect was confronted by a bank employee. Right after that, with his disguise, the suspect quickly escaped.
Police began searching for the suspect after they arrived at the scene, but his speed appeared to have surpassed them. To date, no arrests have been made. Police are appealing for anyone with information about the robbery to intend to proceed.
Thankfully, no one was hurt, there was no damage to the building and there was no money in the incident, according to Florida Credit Union Branch Executive Vice President Brian Leatherman.
