Some teams are eliminated from Call of Duty League Kickoff Classic 2022

First day of 2022 Call of Duty The League Kickoff Classic has ended from the Arlington Esports Stadium in Texas.

While the event doesn’t count towards the regular season standings, it does give fans a chance to see the new lineups in action for the first time. Vanguard’s The basic controller mode is also being tested by professional teams on stage.

Despite being overlooked heading into this season, the Florida Mutineers surprised with a 3-1 win over Los Angeles Guerrillas in the first game of the day. Led by Owakening and Skyz, who posted 1.43 and 1.2 K/D across four maps of the series, Florida took down LAG in an impressive win streak. The Mutineers won both Hard Points, including a 250-246 victory in Bocage. Florida will face the Toronto Ultra tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. CT.

The Seattle Surge, who has struggled hard for the past two seasons, has entered the 2022 campaign with tons of hype. Led by new head coach Fenix, veterans Mack and Accuracy, and new CDLs Pred and Sib, there’s a lot of excitement around Seattle. They lived up to the bill in a 3-0 win over the London Royal Ravens as Mack took the lead with a 1.24 K/D streak. Surge won the Bocage Hardpoint 250-203 and never looked back, which made them can easily go to victory. Seattle has an appointment with the defending CDL champion, Atlanta FaZe, tomorrow at 3 p.m. CT.

After a disappointing end to the 2021 season, the New York Subliners kicked off 2022 with an impressive 3-2 win over CDL’s newest team, the Boston Breach. It was longtime veterans Crimsix and Clayster leading the Subliners in the decisive Search and Destroy of Berlin, posting 2.67 and 3.00 K/Ds, respectively. Crimsix leads with an overall K/D of 1.26 across the series’ five maps. New York will face Minnesota RØKKR tomorrow at 6 p.m. CT.

The new Los Angeles Thieves looked impressive on their debut, a 3-1 win over the Paris Legion. Kenny had a great series, as he posted a 1.21 K/D and dealt over 10,000 damage across four maps of the series. Envoy, who signed Thieves for the season, also had an impressive performance, hitting 1.10 K/D with almost 10,000 damage. The Thieves will face OpTic Texas tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. CT.
