Some Nvidia RTX 3090 GPUs are bricking after playing the New World beta

New worldClosed beta released recently had overcome 200,000 concurrent players, but it looks like some of them use Nvidia’s best graphics card to get an early look at the game doesn’t have a fun experience. Reports are emerging that some RTX 3090 GPUs appear to be dead after running a new game.

A Redditor claims that their 3090 stopped working after simply toggling the graphic quality in the menu and hitting save. The same goes for content creators Gladd, who also reported the same issue on the EVGA 3090 card, said that the beta “completely screwed up my graphics card”.

Many argue that the problem mainly affects the FTW3 variant of the EVGA graphics card, but Gigabyte is another brand embroiled in controversy. The weirdest thing about this is that it seems to be exclusive to the RTX 3090, suggesting there may be some underlying issue with the GPU that New World has discovered.

We’ve reached out to Amazon Games for further comment. Whatever the problem is, it’s good that it’s been discovered now, rather than when the floods unfold and more start running the game on launch day next month.
