Skyrim player finds Nazeem dead

A Skyrim player realizes that he hasn’t seen Nazeem anywhere during his playthrough, only to find that he was somehow killed off-screen.

The Elder Scrolls Skyrim‘s Nazeem isn’t an extremely important character to the overall storyline of the game, but he’s still someone that most players are fairly familiar with. Due to Nazeem’s generally condescending attitude towards the Dragonborn and others, his character is often ridiculed and targeted by players alike.

Most Skyrim Players who visit Whiterun will eventually encounter Nazeem, as his wanderings of the city are often interrupted by rude comments made to the player. However, at least one player noted that they never discovered the character once they reached level 45.

Redditor jomarii went to Skyrim subreddit to share their discovery with other players. After realizing they had never seen Nazeem, Jomarii used a cheat to access a hidden area of the game. The area is normally inaccessible throughout the game and serves as a repository for named NPCs that have died. There they eventually found Nazeem’s looted body without explaining what happened to him. Apparently, at some point in the course of her playthrough, someone or something killed Nazeem.

While some in the comments expressed possible disbelief at Nazeem’s seemingly accidental death, others pointed out many ways it could have happened. Skyrim has many random events that can happen throughout the game, inside and outside of quests, including dangerous moments like dragon attacks. It’s entirely possible that Nazeem would meet an untimely fate at the hands of someone other than the Dragonborn.

While some players might be disappointed at the missed opportunity to get rid of Nazeem themselves, others would likely be glad just not to have to face him. Whiterun is one of the first areas players visit Skyrim, there are plenty of opportunities for Nazeem to drop his signature joke about the player not having been to Cloud District. Even newcomers to the game usually don’t let him irritate him for long.

Skyrim has been out for so long that many players have taken it upon themselves not only to take Nazeem out of the picture, but to do so in an unusual way. Players captured Nazeem’s soul in guns, beat him in VR, and at least one player challenged himself to kill Nazeem daily until Elder Scrolls 6 comes out.

The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
