Skyrim fans create the ultimate Nordic puzzle door

In a stunning woodworking project, a Skyrim fan has recreated one of Skyrim’s most recognizable pieces of architecture – the Nordic Puzzle Door.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Definitely an iconic game. Even though it’s been about a decade, the game continues to have a dedicated fan base of players and creators.

As a Skyrim fan, Reddit user u/energygizerturtle2 decided to take on an ambitious project in tribute to the game. Through a combination of woodworking, mechanical engineering, and painting, they were able to recreate one of the SkyrimThe most recognizable puzzle.

First posted to the r/Skyrim subreddit, u/energygizerturtle2 showed a stunning build of one of the SkyrimThe iconic Nordic jigsaw doors. Originally their 2020 quarantine project, u/energygizerturtle2 aims to recreate the puzzle door as a combination padlock.

Although the project was lengthy, the end result was well worth it. It appears bit by bit like the original architectural puzzle, especially the intricate carvings. The wooden working mechanism looks great, even with the complexity of the rings. u/energygizerturtle2 indicates that the project lasted several months, working and resting every day for several hours. It’s a pretty big time investment, but it’s equally enjoyable entertainment.

More than just a fancy construction, this recreation serves as a mechanism for a trunk that u/energygizerturtle2 has also built. They say the continuation lock is a bit buggy, but actual usage makes this project one of a kind. In addition, real-world usage is a pleasant sensation, a little extra Skyrim everyday sophistication.

What makes these doors particularly iconic are the three swivel rings integrated into their front panel. Beautiful and intricate, these puzzle doors require the player to use the dragon’s claw key to coordinate and turn the rings of the door to unlock it. u/energygizerturtle2 actually tried to create their own dragon claw key, but “failed horribly.” Unfortunately, their mechanism currently doesn’t work smoothly enough for the claws to center themselves. But who knows – maybe one day it will happen!
