Now, one Skyrim fans have enlivened one of its most iconic pieces of architecture.

Puzzle doors are an important part of Skyrim’Nordic ruins. In fact, Bleak Falls Barrow, acts as a sort of tutorial dungeon for Skyrim, revolves around the Puzzle Door and its key, the Golden Claw. Many of these keys are scattered around the mountainous landscape of Skyrim, serving as trophies to be collected as the player works throughout the game. However, each key is paired with a Puzzle Door. Previously seen only in the digital world, Redditor u/energygizerturtle2 brought one into the physical world.

In a post on the r/Skyrim subreddit, energygizerturtle2 shared a few photos of the Nordic Puzzle Door combination lock they made as part of a 2020 quarantine project. Users joked that it was still there. there are “some bugs”, but it will obviously also be paired with a trunk, giving it a practical use. Energizerturtle2 even says that they tried to make a swipe key to go with it, but they “failed horribly” and the mechanism wouldn’t rotate.

The Nordic jigsaw puzzle seems to have taken several hours of work a day and lasted for several months, which means it’s a pretty good time investment. However, it’s easy to see where that time has gone. The lock is very detailed and the fact that it is functional and equipped for real-world use makes it all the more impressive.
