The next day, Grubb discusses the Skate 4 multiplayer and alpha pre-tests in more detail on episode 43 of his GrubbSnax podcast on Giantbomb. After reporting that testers were “very impressed with how it felt,” he explains (at the 4:04 mark of the episode, as transcribed by GR) how EA hopes to modernize the Skate series with similar customization options to other online multiplayer games:
“Two big things I want to say about Skate 4, about what you should expect from it as a Skate fan or just a fan of modern games. They will take some modern content, specifically the kind of content you can see in the game Forza or many modern online multiplayer games where you will have a lot of customization options for your character. yourself, lots of skins, skins for your board…
There’s going to be a lot of user generated content where you can end your board with the crazy stuff the community is making and stuff like that. “
Grubb continued, revealing how the Skate 4 multiplayer free-to-play skate mode will let friends shape the skate park to their liking on the fly:
“And where that is going to shine is the other side of this, which is the co-operative free skating mode online that sounds great.
This is a mode where you are hanging out with your friends or anyone else will access the server. And then anyone on this server can say, ‘Hey, does anyone want to try some tricks here with me on this?’. And then someone can put the skate park essentials to do it in real time with other people right there and just say, okay, this is the ramp that we need to make this a reality…
Everyone can work together to create these parks at the same time, you can add content, remove content quickly. ”
Skate 4 doesn’t have a release date yet. Its release platforms will likely be PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia and EA Origin, according to a trailer revealed in 2019, but this could change when More info on the game revealed by EA.
