Seth Meyers tears up Fox News and GOP ‘Gaslighting’ over abortion bans

After turning much of his show over to Planned Parenthood’s president and three female writers Monday, Seth Meyers took a “closer look” at the Supreme Court ruling, which was overturned Roe v. calf on Tuesday.

“Amid a tide of national outrage and widespread protests against the Supreme Court’s grotesque decision to scrap abortion rights, Republicans shamelessly claim that it is the Democrats who are orchestrating riots with peaceful protests,” he said late night host began. “And on top of that, they’re trying to get everyone to believe that nothing was banned as a result of that decision.”

In particular, Meyers delved into the bizarre juxtaposition of conservatives on Fox News and elsewhere in which he accused Democrats of alleged violence on the same day Americans learned that Donald Trump had welcomed deadly weapons at his Jan. 6 rally to have appealed against the verdict because, as he allegedly said, “You are not here to hurt me.”

“Whenever a piece of news comes along that Fox News knows is politically bad for Republicans, like repealing an overwhelmingly popular constitutional right, Fox tries to twist around by convincing your grandparents that Antifa is currently ahead.” her house and threatens to steal her flagstones and take her lawn hostage to gnomes,” the host said.

“They love to do this childish thing where they blame the left for doing what they actually did,” Meyers continued. “For example, they are the ones who staged a violent coup to overthrow the government.”

And “when they’re not lying and calling the left violent,” he added, “they are lying and calling the left hysterical.” Meyers said Republicans are “trying to have it both ways” by “celebrating” their victory ‘ while at the same time ‘causing everyone to believe that nothing has actually been banned’.

After playing clips of Kevin McCarthy, Marsha Blackburn, Sean Hannity and Marco Rubio all claiming that “nothing has been banned” since the Supreme Court simply referred the matter back to the states – many of whom outright banned abortion – Meyers shot back, “That’s the shittiest Jedi mind trick I’ve ever seen.”

“This decision was not theoretical,” he added. “It has put millions of women and people who are immediately pregnant at risk.”
