Seth Meyers on Trump’s ‘crazy’ Putin praise right before Russia’s invasion

With that, he released a clip of Trump speaking on The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Showa conservative talk radio show co-hosted by Travis, a troll-like Fox Sports character who misrepresents the COVID-19 pandemic at every step (and indeed almost everything else).

“Yesterday I went in and there was a television screen, and I said, ‘This is genius,'” Trump comments on Putin on Tuesday. “Putin claims a large part of Ukraine – belongs to Ukraine. Putin declared it independent. Oh, that’s great. So Putin is now saying, ‘It’s independent,’ a large part of Ukraine’s territory. I said, “How can you be intelligent?”

Trump then went on to say of Putin, “This is a very knowledgeable man… I know him very well. Very, very good… But here’s a guy who says, you know, ‘I’m going to declare a big part of Ukraine independent,’ he uses the words ‘independent’ and ‘we’re going out. and we’ll go in and we’ll help keep the peace. ‘ You have to say, that’s pretty savvy. ”

“No, you don’t have to say that!” Meyers exclaimed. “I mean, well, maybe Friend have to say it so that someone will pick you up at the Moscow airport when you flee our jurisdiction. It’s crazy that Trump still tries to praise a bloodthirsty tyrant like Putin every chance he gets. Trump recounts Putin’s every move as if he were [NFL commentator] Tony Romo called the last of the playoffs. ”

He added, “Trump watched Russian tanks roll into Ukraine with bombs in hand, calling it ‘genius’.”
