Scuf reveals first third-party PS5 controller

Scuf reveals the ultimate Reflex line of custom PS5 controllers offering PlayStation fans a third-party alternative to DualSense.
Although it may be hard to believe for some people, but PS5 over a year old. With the release of this next-generation system from Sony, many PlayStation fans have been introduced to next-generation gaming technologies, including faster load times with SSDs and improve lighting with raytracing. In addition to advances in console hardware, the system also comes with a new controller, DualSense.
Packaged with the PS5, the DualSense is the latest controller design from the PlayStation. With impressive new features, including haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, many fans have come to love the look and feel of the gamepad. After this positive reception for DualSense, it is only a matter of time until third-party alternatives become available. Although it took more than a year after the PS5 was released, popular controller manufacturer Scuf finally looks to offer an alternative gamepad based on the DualSense design.
Recently, Scuf announced a new line of custom controllers for the PS5. This new collection called Reflex series has 3 different options: Reflex, Reflex Pro and Reflex FPS. However, it should be noted that each of these custom controllers costs significantly more than the standard DualSense. Prices are $199.99 for Reflex, $229.99 for Reflex Pro, and $259.99 for Reflex FPS.
With such a hefty price tag, it’s understandable that this type of controller might not be suitable for every gamer. However, this Reflex line of gamepads offers some perks for those looking to boost their gaming performance. Among the features included in these custom controls is the option to swap between different colored glasses and anti-friction rings. It’s worth noting that there’s only one color (black) for the glass right now, but more options are expected in the coming months. In addition to these color options, all Reflex controllers come with 4 interchangeable rear paddles and a number of interchangeable thumbsticks.
Besides these nice updates, Reflex Pro and Reflex FPS have even more features. Both of these expensive controllers feature “high performance” grips, which are said to make them more comfortable during extended gaming sessions. In addition, Reflex FPS, the most expensive option, is equipped with an instant trigger that reduces input lag. This feature is in contrast to Reflex and Reflex Pro maintain haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.
It’s exciting for PlayStation fans to finally have a third-party alternative controller for PS5. It will be interesting to see the reception of these gamepads and how they compare to the cheaper DualSense in the coming days.
