‘Scream’ creator reveals original plans for Thursday and Friday movies

Screaming

This weekend saw the launch of Screaming, a re-launch of the legendary horror series. But this isn’t the first time the series has been rebooted. 2011 Screaming 4 previously breathed new life into the Ghostface legend after the original trilogy ended in 2000. Fans may know that it was supposed to spawn two sequels to form its own trilogy. , however these plans were scrapped when the film underperformed at the box office.

While it might take us a decade to return to Woodsboro, franchise creator and original screenwriter Kevin Williamson has a plan outlined for Screaming 5 and 6 that will continue directly from where Screaming 4 left. In an extended interview with Bloody Disgust, Williamson made it clear how Screaming 5 could have turned out very differently if it had happened 10 years ago.

First, Emma Roberts’ Jill will return as the series’ new protagonist, even though she’s been branded as the killer in the previous film. In a dark mirror of Screaming 2, Screaming 5 will follow Jill to college, where her murderous past begins with her.

“Jill Williamson explained. “And it was a killer who knew she was the killer from the last movie. So the killer keeps trying to expose her, so she’ll have to kill to cover it up. So it’s killer meets killer. And Sidney was a professor at that school. ”

For Screaming 6, the focus will then shift to Courteney Cox’s Gale Weathers and David Arquette’s Dewey Riley, putting a button on their once-on/off romance in the process.

Screaming 6 will answer whatever happened between Dewey and Gale,” added Williamson. “Sidney was involved, but it was more focused on Gale’s backstory.”

It’s fascinating to imagine what could have been here. Having Jill as the new last girl even though being a killer herself can be a great invention of the formula, recall how Mental by Norman Bates. Obviously, the conclusion to Screaming 4 However, it should have been adjusted to allow this to continue, given Jill’s death in that film.

Thankfully, Thursday Screaming We finally got it well worth the wait. Go see it for yourself in theaters right now.
